Dibbs was donated in early 2005 by K-9 Crime Stoppers to Officer Robert Johnson when he was only 6 months old. Dibbs was then tested for becoming an official police service dog, and was hired by MPD with Officer Johnson as his handler in February of 2006

Dibbs then attended a 9 week narcotics detection course through the Connecticut Police Working Dog Association with his fellow K-9 unit members, Marco and Vegas. There, Dibbs was trained under Trainer Michael Ravenelle.

Dibbs will return to training in the spring of 2006 for his patrol certification. This certification will allow Officer Johnson and Dibbs to become Manchester's forth K-9 team!!  Dibbs will be a dual purpose K-9, which means that he can be utilized in both patrol (tracking, building and area searches, article recovery, apprehension) and narcotics.
