Chief James Berry

James Berry is a graduate of Eastern Connecticut State University with a Bachelor's Degree in Sociology and Criminal Justice, Chief Berry had been with the Trumbull Police Department since 2001. Prior to his becoming Police Chief in Trumbull, Chief Berry was employed by the City of Hartford Police Department retiring as Assistant Chief in 2000. Upon his retirement from the Hartford Police Department, Chief Berry served as Chief of Security with the Hartford Board of Education.

Chief Berry has had a distinguished career earning numerous community awards and commendations including being recognized by the United States Treasury Department. His affiliations in the area of law enforcement include the Department of Justice. The Regional Community Policing Institute and the International Association of Counter Terrorism.

During his career, Chief Berry has been extensively involved in all aspects of police work including drug enforcement, community policing, and establishing partnerships with agencies with an emphasis on outreach to youth and the elderly. In addition, Chief Berry has been instrumental in computerizing police departments which includes mobile data terminals.

Chief Berry's in-depth background and experience make him an outstanding choice for the Town of Manchester as the community faces its challenges and opportunities during the next five to ten years.
