The Manchester Police Traffic Division is dedicated to ensuring that all city streets are as safe as possible for it's pedestrians, cyclists and motorist by strictly enforcing all motor vehicle laws and removing unsafe drivers and vehicles from our roadways.
FACT
We are continually asked during traffic stops. "Isn't there anything better you could be doing with your time than write tickets", "Maybe get some real criminals off of the street." The fact is that you are more likely to die in a traffic related collision than by criminal activity. Statistics from the Connecticut Department of Transportation show that for the year 2001 there were over 83,256 motor vehicle collisions in Connecticut. Of the 83,256 collisions 319 resulted in death. In the year 2002 the Manchester Police Department alone took over 2433 cases involving motor vehicle collisions. Of the 2433 collisions 4 resulted in death. Please consider these facts the next time you get behind the wheel and always buckle up.
The traffic division's four-member team consists of Sgt. Howard Beeler, Officer Don Poist, Officer Guy Beck, and Officer Paul Gilligan.
