The Town of Manchester, the Manchester Police Department, the Manchester Fire Rescue EMS, the Eight Utilities District Fire Department and the Manchester Housing Authority are very excited about a service that is now available to Manchester residents. The name of the program is the program is “Are You Okay?” The “Are You Okay?” Program is designed for older adults, disabled persons, shut-ins who live alone, or anyone in our community who needs to be checked on daily. The “Are You Okay?” Program is a computerized telephone calling system that will be operated, free of charge, by the police and fire departments. The system calls at the same time of day. The time is chosen by the subscriber. When the subscriber picks up the phone, (s)he will hear, “Hello. This is officer Marrotte of the Manchester Police Department. Are you okay?” If the subscriber fails to answer the phone after several tries, or there is a busy signal several times in a row, the computer immediately notifies the Fire Alarm Dispatcher who will contact the person on the subscriber’s registration form. Together they will determine whether to send a police officer to check on the subscriber. During holidays, vacations, or any other time the subscriber plans to be away, a simple call the to Fire Alarm Dispatch Center will suspend the calls for as long as desired. (860) 643-7373. To order a registration form, contact Officer Marrotte by phone (860) 645-5568 or e-mail at Marrottea@ci.manchester.ct.us. To report a problem with your service, call (860) 643-7373 |
