DNA Hair Collection To collect a hair sample, comb your child's hair with a clean comb. Select strands of hair from the comb that have the root, or follicle, in tact. Place the hairs in an envelope, label it by indicating your child's name, date of birth, and date of collection. Be sure to also label the contents, (i.e. "Hair Collection"). |
Kits include a Child's Diary to document important information about your child, as well as fingerprints and photographs, Saliva Collection, and Hair Collection envelopes and instruction. |
DNA Saliva Collection To collect a saliva and skin cell sample, use a cotton swab o vigorously rub the inside of your child's mouth. Let the cotton swab air dry, then store in an envelope labeled with your child's name, date of birth, and date of collection. Be sure to also label the contents, (i.e. "Saliva Collection"). |
Photographs It is recommended that you update your child's photo every six months. It is best to use a 35mm camera. Take a full-length photo, a close-up facial photo and a close-up of both profiles. Be sure to photograph any birthmarks or scars. Label the back of the photos with your child's name, date of birth, and date photo was taken. |
Keep DNA collection envelopes and photographs in safe place along with your Child's Diary (important personal information pertaining to your child). In the event your child should ever become "missing," all of this information should be turned over to the police. |
